The $40 deal also extends to flights offered by Southwest`s merger partner, AirTran Airways. The sale also features $80 one-way fares on flights of between 451 and 1,250 miles and $120 one-way fares on flights of at least 1,251 miles.
AirTran`s $40 markets from Pittsburgh also include Chicago, Indianapolis, Milwaukee and Raleigh/Durham, as well as Charlotte, N.C.; Newport News/Williamsburg, Va.; and Richmond, Va.
The sale covers travel from August 23 through Nov. 16, with some restrictions. The offers end Thursday night.
Dallas-based Southwest Airlines topped the results of an annual customer satisfaction survey, and Fort Worth-based American Airlines ranked third.
