By default, every time you download from the Internet, Safari records it in the download list. However, you can set it to delete the download from the list at the end of it. To do this:
Click the Settings menu in the top right of your browser and select Preferences
Click the General tab, open the drop down menu to the right of "Clear Download List" and select "To successfully complete the download"
Close the window and go!
