Geocities was one of the first Internet service in the 90's to offer space (hosting) free for people to go up and make your website, from businesses to individuals grew to millions of sites around the world in all languages, is an important part of Internet history, I must confess that I did my first website in Geocities.
But unfortunately in 2009 Yahoo! Geocities owned company closed the service and therefore also closed all sites that were housed there which caused great anger of many people, it is forever lost a lot of information that only was there lodged.
But thanks to a group called Team Archive that they managed to make a backup of all Geocities and share it with everyone on a torrent, all this in order not to lose this important part of the history of the Internet, weighs 652 gigabytes compressed file, once unzipped is about 900 GB.
Although there are other sites that can serve as a mirror to keep a copy of what it was like Geocities Archive.org, Reocities, Oocities, geocities.ws, And Internet Archaeology apparently each of them has a different amount of stored pages
