This is because in most cases to downloading the updates are done from remote servers to your location or simply are having trouble sending downloads. Thus , a good tip for hasten the update of Ubuntu is to choose the fastest server available, and this can carry through to the next tutorial.
First of all , we must enter the Synaptic package manager . To this end , we went to the menu System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager.
Once Synaptic has loaded , we will Settings - > Repositories (Within the Synaptic menu ):
This will load the repo window , where once again we must turn to the tab Ubuntu Software" in "Download from :"Open the dropdown menu and select "Other“:
This will open a small popup window that lists all available servers . Simply click on the button Select the best server" we hope to load and we click on "OK:
Back in the Repositories window , save the changes (with the Accept button "), close the popup and the Synaptic package manager and proceed to update the information in our new repositories. To do this , open a terminal (Applications - > Accessories - > Terminal) and we introduce :
sudo apt- get update
Once updated information repositories, we can proceed to perform system updates as normal , probably noticing a higher download speed of packages. Keep in mind that if the download is slow, perhaps the problem is not due to the repositories , if not the Internet connection. Otherwise, repeat the process can help us find another optimal server .
