Australia will discuss this issue with South Korea, Japan and the United States.
North Korean attack on South Korea reap condemnation and criticism from Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard. He said that the attack North Korea is a very dangerous form of provocation.
"Australia condemns this action and called for immediate cessation of attacks," Gillard said in a statement, 23 November 2010 as quoted by the Associated Press pages.
He also expressed concern over those who are injured and killed during the attack. It was reported two soldiers killed South Korean navy and dozens injured.
"The attack North Korea threatens stability in northern Asia. Australia calls on North Korea to comply with international law and stop the action, "said Gillard.
In his statement, Gillard said Australia will discuss this issue with South Korea, Japan and the United States.
Meanwhile, Australian Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd said that the incident in the Yellow Sea are very alarming.
"This incident is very bad for stability and regional security, and we entered the region," he said.
Rudd said he had spoken with Japanese Foreign Minister who was visiting Canberra about the incident.
A recent report indicates that there are two South Korean soldiers who were killed in the attack on the island of Yeonpyeong. South Korean military also said five soldiers suffered serious injuries, 10 others lightly wounded, and three civilians injured victims involved.
